Lakewood isn’t a themed rental or a re-created farmhouse.
It’s the real thing — built in the 1830s, lived in by the same family for seven generations, and restored in a way that honors what’s original rather than replacing it.
Wide porches. Heavy doors. Old floors that have held up just fine.
Guests don’t just stay here — they settle in.
We absolutely loved our stay! The history of the home, location, amenities & scenery was amazing! From sitting on the porch in the swing, watching the horses, sleeping amazing in the incredibly soft/comfortable bed, and enjoying many places to relax...we were very pleased with our stay! We will be back!

Sidney was a perfect host. House was gorgeous inside and out, large porch we could hang out and listen to music. Kitchen was well stocked with all you need to cook a dinner for 14! The house accommodated friends and family with the seven bedrooms and did not feel we were on top of each other. We walked to the events on campus and downtown. When visiting Livingston, I would stay here again!

Staying at Lakewood feels like being handed the keys to a family home — the kind that doesn’t need perfect edges to make you feel welcome. People drift in and out of rooms, gather in the kitchen, wander the grounds, circle back to the porch. Time spreads out.
Cook late breakfasts and eat around the big table
Sit on the porch longer than they meant to
Wander with a cup of coffee and no real plan
Sleep well in rooms with history in the walls
